F.A.B LLC Homecare Services is a Medicaid-approved home health care in New York, New York serving its clients with various care needs such as skilled nursing, occupational therapy, personal care, audiology, and extended 24-hour care.

Most of our clients who receive our care at home have benefited from state-funded health insurance such as Medicare. Hence, it is essential to know the coverages and limitations of your state insurance when you use it for your health care needs.

So, does your Medicare covers your 24-hour care? No.

In general, Medicare pays for the health care needs of a patient when they qualify to receive home care because it is recommended by their doctor.  These care services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language, pathology services, skilled nursing, home health aide services, medical social services, and medical supplies.

As long as your doctor recommends these services as part of your care needs and they do not exceed 7 days each week or 8 hours a day for 21 days.

If your doctor found that you still need care and support at home, they can recommend an extension of your care, and Medicare still has to approve it.

In conclusion, Medicare doesn’t pay for the following:

  • 24-hour-a-day care at home
  • Meals delivered to a patient’s home
  • Homemaker services like shopping, cleaning, and laundry
  • Personal care services such as bathing and dressing

If you are using your Medicare in various home care services in New York, make sure to protect yourself from possible fraud on the use of your benefits.

Always ask for a copy of your care from your healthcare provider to ensure Medicare paid for the service you received.
